There's space for you here.

Here you’ll find a place of sanctuary, prayed in and stayed in, surrounded by nature where God is near. It’s a place of rest for being and breathing and nurturing your soul in the Way of Jesus. It’s a place of peace. Come, may I offer you space and direction to prepare for the journey God has planned for you.

Hello.
I’m Jean Nevills, certified Spiritual Director. I have a Master’s degree in Christian Education and certificate in Spiritual Formation from the Renovare Institute. My own hunger and pursuit of the manifest presence of God has taken me on the inward adventure of solitude in the quiet of monastaries, and on geographical adventures as far away as Ethiopia, South Korea, and China—all of which draw me home to God in my own backyard.

ABOUT

SPIRITUAL DIRECTION

A Spiritual Director acts as Listener, along with the directee, to the Real Director, God, as God touches the life of this person. She companions the directee on the journey to Christian freedom and is challenged to grow also. She is someone who can listen when you’re struggling, grieving, longing for more. She is someone who can help you notice, hear, and grow closer to God in freedom, with integrity and joy. She is someone who understands your journey just enough to walk with you but not get in the way of the Mystery of God.

SUPERVISION
Fellow Spiritual Directors may seek supervision as they attempt to grow in their ability to notice and respond to God’s presence during their spiritual direction practice. As a Supervisor Jean mentors, teaches, and consults with Spiritual Directors to help them grow in their professional calling and abilities.

RATES
Spiritual Direction and Supervision are offered on a sliding scale from $0-$75 per hour.

OUR RETREAT

Take time to retreat, to refrain for a set time from our lives as usual to rest our souls with Him and learn a way of living that is less burdensome and more serene.

It’s in this spirit we welcome you to our Garden Poustinia, a small place of sactuary nestled in a nearby grove on our 30-acre property in Hillsboro, Oregon. Originally an Eastern Russian Orthodox tradition, a poustinia serves as a hermitage, where one can go for hours of silence and solitude to pray and fast alone in the presence of God.

Ours is available for day use at a rate of $20 or overnight for $35. It comes with a full bathroom, linens, tea or coffee maker and small refrigerator.
For Jesus said,
“Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”

Solitude and Community

I was sitting this morning with the post-resurrection scenes in John 20 with Mary Magdalene, Peter and John, and especially with Thomas when I was surprised by the gospel writer (John) interrupting his gripping narrative. If it were a movie, there would be a freeze-frame with this voice-over: “Now Jesus did many other signs in […]

From Lying to Loving

Is it possible to be truthful without falling into legalism? Or is honesty always the best policy? When is it not even a good idea to be honest? Just asking those questions exposes an underlying narrative that though a lie may be an abomination to God it is a very ready help in time of […]
